MISSOULA – Edgar F. Flink, 81, of Missoula, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016, at St. Patrick Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born is Missoula on Aug. 7, 1934, to Thomas and Mary Flink, the youngest of six children. He was a lifetime Missoula resident.

In October 1955, Ed married Rita Richardson, his grade school sweetheart. They enjoyed 60 years together. To this union a daughter, Debra, and son, Calvin, were born.

His most treasured time was spent gardening, camping, hunting, fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed playing card and dice games. He loved to share fresh-grown produce and flowers with family and friends. His specialty was to help anyone with a mechanical repair. He was always up to the challenge and could fix and repair almost anything.

Ed served in the U.S. Army and was released with an honorable discharge. He was very proud to work for Missoula Motor Parts Company while in high school. He went on to have a long career at Horner Waldorf. In 1974 he took the opportunity to become part owner and eventually full owner of Missoula Motor Parts Company, also known as NAPA.

In retirement years Ed enjoyed wintering in Arizona and California, making many new friends. In summer months, he enjoyed being at the lake and feeding the hummingbirds. Nothing made him happier than being with his grandkids and enjoying their many activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Flink; and siblings, William, Leo, Frances Thrasher, Leonard and Kenneth.

Survivors include wife, Rita; children, Debra (Dennis) Bezdicek and Calvin (Debbie) Flink; grandchildren, Brady and Jeremy Bezdicek and Ryan and Tyler Flink; sister-in-law, Jean Flink; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Ed’s honor to Missoula Aging Services, Montana Special Olympics or a charity of your choice.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at the Linda Vista Golf Course club house, located at 4915 Lower Miller Creek Road. Reception following.
