1953 -2009

MISSOULA - The family and friends of Tom Dunton, 55, of Missoula, blessed his departure on  May 3, 2009, when his courageous battle with cancer came to a closure.

Tom was born on October 19, 1953, to Clara and Richard Dunton.  Shortly after graduating from Hellgate High School, Tom joined the Air Force.  With six years of traveling military style and making numerous acquaintances, Tom returned to Montana.

He married his "Cajun Queen" and best friend, Phyllis Hebert.  They were blessed with 28 years of togetherness and jointly raised three children.

Tom was employed at Smurfit Stone Container Corp. for 18 years before he ventured into self-employment as a remodeling contractor.  Through this endeavor, Tom became a passionate supporter of the MBIA, serving on several committees and boards, absolutely honored with everything that the building industry gave him.  He loved golf, fishing, hunting and time with friends and family.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Richard Dunton; in-laws JC and Nell Hebert; brother-in-law Nick Grubich; and nephew Bobby Richardson.

Tom is survived by his wife Phyllis; children Jason (Lisa), Ted, Melissa (Jimmy); and grandchildren Jadyn and Damien (the greatest joy), all of Missoula.  Other survivors include his brother Dick (Pat) of Chewelah, Wash.; sisters Delma Grubich of Wenatchee, Wash., Annette Kish (Ray) of Spokane, Linda Ramharter (Brentt) of Missoula; in-laws Chuck Hebert (Jane), Gary Hebert (Ann), Jerry Hebert (Marie), Deborah Hebert, Peggy Hebert and Renee LeCompte (Dale) all of Houma, La.; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, acquaintances and a large extended family.

A Celebration of Tom's life was held at 2:00PM, Saturday, May 9, began with a Memorial and a potluck followed at the Orchard Homes Country Life Club.
