MISSOULA – Doris Amy Mann, 72, of Missoula passed away Friday, June 27, 1997, in Billings of natural causes.

Doris was born August 1, 1924, in Bend, Oregon, the daughter of Ernest and Lila (Hicks) Johnston.

Doris had been a Missoula resident for the past 30 years and worked in the Accounting Department for Champion International at their Frenchtown mill for 20 years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Missoula.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Lila and Ernest Johnston of Plains, and her husband, Jerry. Memorial services were held July 3, 1997 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.  Inurnment was at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Doris worked for Dick Motta in accounting in the 70's and 80's and worked with Arlene West and Royce Graves.  She and her husband, Jerry, lived adjacent to Mullen Road until she retired and moved to Missoula, living with her mother until she died following a heart attack. Doris died in Billings, Montana while traveling to visit her in-laws in Wyoming.  She was very kind and sometimes a bit raucous.  Doris is remembered as a great lady with a beautiful sense of humor.

Doris was also a distant relative of Merle Johnston, longtime history and music teacher at Frenchtown High School. Both were from Plains, MT.
