Arlen Thompson

1931 - 2013

GREAT FALLS – Arlen C. Thompson was born on August 6, 1931, in Bakersfield, California, and passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, in Great Falls, with family and friends by his side.

He married Jaquetta Mitchell on September 18, 1953, in Bakersfield. He served in the Air Force until 1956, when the family moved to Missoula.  In Montana, he worked for the Ford garage, the U.S. Forest Service and the Frenchtown paper mill.  The family moved to Ninemile in 1968, where they lived for 26 years.  Arlen and Jaquetta relocated to Sun River in 1994.  He loved living in Montana and loved spending time in the outdoors with his family and friends.  Arlen and Jaquetta spent many hours together in their canoe on the river.

Arlen loved his family and his friends very much, and was looking forward to celebrating his and Jaquetta’s 60th wedding anniversary in September.  He was very proud to have her as his wife and best friend.

Arlen is survived by his wife and best friend, Jaquetta; daughter, Sue Stanley; son, Greg Thompson; daughter, Laura Cyr and son-in-law Dave Cyr (Wood Yard Operator); daughter, Janis Bouma; grandchildren, Jason Stanley (Missy), Jennifer Stanley, Heather Palmer (Brian) and Casey Denny (Dustin); great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Samantha, Emmagrace, Beau, Rylan and Peyton; his brother, George Thompson; many nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends who were like his family.

We will all miss his great laugh and big bear hugs.

At Arlen’s request, no services will be held.

Rest in Peace dear Friend.
